Asus launched its new Zenfone 7 and 7 pro. They keep all the things we love from Zenfone 6Z and removes things we loathed with a few tweaks of its own.
Improvements
We all remember the Asus 6z with the flip camera, well now it has a successor Zenfone 7 / 7 pro. It does the same camera trick we loved but a little bit faster and smoother. It also covers our biggest grudge against 6z, it now comes with an OLED panel. And if this is not enough it also has the 90 Hz refresh rate. There is a major update in optics. You get a 64-megapixel primary with 12-megapixel ultrawide and 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. On top of it, you also get 8k video recording. The charging speed has also been bumped up to 30 watts from 18 watts. The fingerprint has been shifted from back to sideways. It still retains the 5000 mAh battery and the full view display.
Asus Zenfone 7 pro
Asus Zenfone 7 and 7 pro are almost the same phones with a few tweaks. Zenfone 7 pro comes with snapdragon 865 plus while Zenfone 7 comes with regular snapdragon 865. Another pro feature is in the camera department. You do not get different camera’s, but you get optical image stabilization in primary and telephoto lenses.
Snags
It may seem a perfect phone, but each coin has two sides. For starters, the headphone jack is officially gone. Both of the models are heavier than before. It could have been great if 7 was a little bit light. We don’t know the official price yet but the Taiwan launch price completely made no sense as it was around ₹55,000 for regular and ₹70,000 for pro. So let’s hope for a huge price cut.
Worth it?
Zenfone 7 and 7 pro both are great phones but their price range is not at all justified. ₹ 55k price mark is usually for flagships, so we expect phones costing these much must have an IP certification, wireless, and reverse wireless charging. But a phone of ₹70k price mark should have all the features listed and a crazy feature, like s-pen for note series or professional photography and videography on Xperia 1ii. If Zenfone 7 and 7 pro will be priced around ₹36,000 and ₹ 43,000 respectively, it would make a lot of sense and then would be worth it.
